Tips on Diaper Cakes?
I am making my first Diaper Cake for a boy. Do you have any tips or pointers to help me out? Also, I am headed to the dollar store tomorrow morning, was wondering what Baby Items I should pick up for the cake. Any help would be great! I am not very crafty but really want to give this a shot. Thanks
I usually make three tiered diaper cakes. I use the cardboard circles that pizza parlors use as the bases, starting with about a 16″ circle, then 14″, then 12″. First I roll each diaper up and secure them with rubberbands, then I wrap each base with wrapping paper to cover the ugly cardboard. Set the Diapers how you want them to set and use ribbon to secure them as well as duct tape. When I layer the cake I used duct tape to secure each base to each other. If The Diaper Cake is themed, you should purchase anything that features the theme on it and anything blue. I went to the dollar store for some items, fake flowers to use as accents around the cake, ribbon, some baby items, and some materials. Decorate with pacifiers and bottles, anything imaginable. It is very fun. I normally use about 45 diapers for a 3-Tier Diaper Cake, but you can even make a larger 1-tier or a 2-tier. Good luck and have fun with it, don’t forget to use lots of ribbons.
